On Sunday, the Prime Minister announced the latest measures due to come into effect from Wednesday 13th May. However, under the latest guidance, gyms are not allowed to be opened.
Isolation has hit gyms and health clubs hard. This is because a lot of fitness professionals are self-employed some or all of the time. Many personal trainers meet their potential clients while supervising the gym floor. Likewise, gym members build rapport with instructors through fitness classes.
Covid-19 has meant that coaches have had to find new ways to connect with customers online and to maintain existing client relationships through offering home workouts.
Digital media such as Facebook and Instagram have proven invaluable for uploading videos and helpful tips.
The government have told people in the UK that time spent outdoors is unlimited, which is good news for gym instructors – Now you can resume in-person training, but take it outdoors and stay 2m apart. This means running, walking and bodyweight exercises such as press-ups and planks can all be done outside. Who needs gym equipment?
Now hardworking fitness pros can get back to the job of training clients. But how do they get the word out?
Print Marketing for Fitness
Whether your services are online or offline, start to tell your existing clients about your new training plans. In addition, you need to target the people in your local area who don’t need to use public transport to meet with you. You may be thinking a Facebook ad is the way to do this, but Facebook ads are easy to miss.
Leafleting in the postcode areas you can reach are more effective, because print marketing is more memorable than digital ads. People also perceive physical items to be more valuable than on-screen pixels. What’s more, you don’t also know if someone has seen a Facebook ad. Just because Facebook has recorded an impression doesn’t mean the person in question actually paid any attention or even noticed the ad. A leaflet on your doormat is far more likely to be noticed and read than one post competing with all the other news online.
So whether your new approach to training post-Covid includes online classes or in-person training, a leaflet describing your services will help you generate more leads.
